    Heritage Village readying the area’s
    history to come to life

    A walk down memory lane at Heritage Village, turning the clock back in time to a Mt. Lake of the past, is in store for those who attend the annual Utschtallung, or Heritage Fair, Saturday, September 11, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Village on the southeast corner of the city along Highway 60.
    Closed Mt. Lake City Council meeting leads to litigation
    The Mt. Lake City Council closed a portion of their special meeting last Friday, August 27, to consider legal issues concerning reconstruction of portions of the lake trail. Mt. Lake City Attorney Maryellen Suhrhoff reviewed the benefits of closing the meeting with members, and recommended that the meeting be closed based on attorney-client privilege.

    It’s the city of Mountain Lake, plaintiff; versus Kenneth Yoder and Rachel Yoder of Mt. Lake, defendants — appearing before Honorable Bruce Gross in District Court of the Fifth Judicial District, Civil Court division, on Tuesday, September 14, at 3 p.m.

    Maroon-and-Silver homecoming week 2010 plans at Mt. Lake Public High School are taking shape.
    One major change is the dates for the coronation of this year’s queen and king.

    Federal Education Jobs Fund to provide one-time financial ‘shot in the arm’
    The state of Minnesota submitted its application for the Education Jobs Fund money on Monday, August 30. The money was recently made available by the federal government. Minnesota will allocate the money to school districts and charter schools based on the state primary funding formula.
    Although districts are excited about the cash, many share concerns about the long-term sustainability of that money.
