MDA releases new dicamba restrictions

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture has finalized new restrictions for the spraying of dicamba, a controversial herbicide used for controlling post-emergence broadleaf weeds. Farmers had expressed concern about the impact of chemical drifting.

The MDA restrictions say producers cannot apply dicamba after June 20. Also dicamba cannot be applied if the temperature exceeds 85 degrees, or forecast calls for high temperatures exceeding 85 degrees.
