SWCD ex-staffer receives criminal charges

Two months after a civil embezzlement claim sent shockwaves through the Cottonwood County Soil and Water Conservation District office, the matter has turned into a criminal case.

Last, week the Jackson County Attorney Sherry Haley charged Renee Lynn Harnack of Windom with three counts of theft and one count of embezzlement. If convicted Harnack could face a maximum of 20 years in jail and a $200,000 fine for two fo the most serious charges.
